Works Great 5
The case is easy to use and works as advertised. We have not taken it down beyond 10 feet or so, but it works great on the beach. Keeps sand and rain out great. The flash diffuser broke off right away, but doesn't seem to matter. Also, the top of the lens housing is visible through the viewfinder and obstructs it a little. But what we found is that you can't use the viewfinder underwater with goggles anyway and you just have to aim in the general direction of what you are shooting.

A whole new underwater world has just opened up! 5
This enclosure is awesome! It seals prefectly and allows for full control of all the camera's buttons. The little flashlight dimming filter is a bit pointless but it can be easily removed. Just a tip on the side: When shooting underwater in greater depths, make sure to use an external light source as the built in flash of the camera (S230) is too weak. All-in-all, this is a great accessory to have! Too bad I haven't gotten it earlier...

Canon WP-DC600 Waterproof Case for S200 and S230 Digital Camera 5
This product was a wedding gift, so I didn't actually use it. However, I unpacked it to ensure it wasn't damaged. The plastic construction looks very rugged, and all the controls seem easy-to-operate underwater. Gaskets and O-rings provide sealing for the operable controls, which remotely actuate the camera from outside the plastic housing. A super-quality glass lens cover looks to ensure good photo quality. The user manual appears very complete, and easy to use. The kit comes with silicone grease which is used to lubricate the O-rings to help seal against water, and to make them last longer.

Terrific - money well spent 4
I should explain about what convinced me to buy this in the first place -- about a month ago, I went on a whitewater rafting trip and wanted to take pictures from the raft. Since I didn't have a waterproof camera at the time, I bought two disposable waterproof cameras. While some of the pictures came out well, I didn't enjoy the inconvenience of film (no prview / review of shots; and you had to get it developed to see the pictures) and the lack of features on a disposable camera (no zoom, no movie mode, no flash, and limited to 27 exposures).

The kicker is that I spent almost $40 for the two disposable cameras and to develop/print the pictures. As I'm planning on rafting again this year, and then taking a trip to Hawaii and go snorkling, it became clear that I needed a better underwater camera solution.

I just got my WP-DC600 a few days ago, and I'm already very happy. I regularly go hiking with my dogs on a trail with many water crossings. One of the dogs loves to swim, and I've now captured various underwater pictures and movies of him. Even if I wasn't taking underwater pictures, not having to worry about the camera getting wet has been terrific. I can allow myself to get wet now.

With a few more trips, this case would pay for itself, and it gives me much more convenience in taking/viewing the pictures.

The only drawback to this item is that it adds a significant amount of bulk to the camera to the small digital Elph. Still, the WP-DC600 is still manageable. Having use of all buttons/features on the camera is nice. The only thing you can't do while the camera is in the case is to change the CF card or battery.

BTW, the "air space" created by the WP-DC600 adds some bouancy to the camera. If you let it go in fresh water, it will sink, but slowly enough that you can catch it. I think it will stay put or even float in salt water (I haven't tried it yet, however).

A great way to share underwater adventures! 4
I was lucky enough to receive this case as a gift some time after buying my digital camera. The case is very easy to use; I still haven't even looked at the instruction booklet, other than the quick start guide. All of the buttons line up perfectly with the camera, so using it while in the case is the same as using it without the case. Aside from diving or snorkeling, this case is very useful for taking pictures on a rainy day, or at the beach where there is a risk of spray or sand blowing into the camera.

I have never used the defogging liquid that comes with the camera. I did have a problem with the camera fogging up until I learned to keep it cool (submersed in fresh water) in between dives.

The case "maintanence" is very easy - the o-ring is easy to slip out and clean and the gel will last for a long time.

As another reviewer said, you do need to press the buttons very firmly or the picture won't take, however, I have had the same situation happen whenever the camera requires flash, whether in the case or not.

With regards to leakage - I have not had any (knock on wood!) and I can sometimes be a little careless about cleaning and replacing the o-ring every time. However, I always check the camera by immersing it in freshwater before taking it into the ocean. Canon is very careful to cover their bases by saying that even "one speck of dust" can cause leakage, so they are unlikely to pay anything if your camera is destroyed. That being said, my stepfather returned his and his camera when it leaked on the fifth time using it, and much to his surprise, they did actually fix and return both, no charge. I am guessing this is because they found an actual defect in the case.

Also, be aware you cannot open the case while it is even a little bit wet so be sure to have a big flashcard and a fully charged battery so that you don't run out of memory or battery power too soon. (yes, I learned that one the hard way!)

This case has been a great way to have additional fun diving and take some nice memories. The only problem is, now I want to upgrade!
