'A master of the intelligent thriller...The Ghost is Harris back on sparkling form' The Times

Summary: Robert Harris - The Ghost
Comment: This is a gripping and well-written novel. I bought it on impulse in the airport and found it hard to put down. Harris' command of English is wonderful and witty with some delicate and poetic images, the story is fast-paced yet sensitive and with a brilliantly contrived set of twists.

Summary: You'd almost feel sorry for Cherie...
Comment: But, no, I can't feel sorry for that pair! This is only a mildly-gripping thriller, a good beach read that I polished off in a couple of days ... but its satirisation of the Blairs is quite hilarious. And there's a jolly good twist at the end.
Not up to the standards of Enigma/Fatherland but well worth the cover price in amusement value.

Summary: Not much of a thriller, but a bit of a giggle
Comment: Let's face it, the interest of this book is that it's a thinly-disguised (make that not-at-all disguised) novel about Tony and Cherie.

As a thriller, it's weak. The central character - a ghost writer who is left un-named to make him more...well...ghostly, I guess, is underdrawn and not very interesting. The writing craft pieces are quite interesting, but there are whole chunks of descriptive writing - mostly to do with the American locations - that you end up skipping, which kind of undermines the 'I'm a pacy writer' credibility of the narrator/central character.

The 'revelations' about the fictional Tony and Cherie are funny. They make a horrible kind of sense and I can imagine a lot of people - the kind of people who went on 'Da Vinci Code' holidays - actually believing them. This thing is really so tongue-in-cheek, it's a wonder Harris could breathe as he bashed it out.

It is short and, I think, a lot more credible than the execrabably silly 'Arch Angel' and the dull-as-ditchwater 'Enigma.'

Summary: Harris back at his very best
Comment: A fantastic modern day thriller. This book had me gripped from the first page to the last. Harris' natural flowing style is easy to read while being intriguing and riveting at the same time. Stylish, witty and at times incredibly humorous.

A must read for anyone. Highly recommended. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Summary: Ghost -Robert Harris
Comment: This is a fantastic book again by Robert Harris, like all his previous fiction I found it insightful. I believe it has been cleverly written to lead the readers into constantly seeing Adam Lang has Tony Blair but that is part of the beauty of the writing, because for me its brings readers into the complexities of being a ghost writer and the emotions that was involved. He became an unwilling confidant and was left with the burden of the truth and the dangers that went with the knowledge. A beautifully crafted and intriguing story.
