Editorial Reviews:

From the co-creator of Age of Empires, Brian Sullivan, comes an all-new action role-playing game set in the mythical worlds of ancient Greece, Egypt and China. Amazing visuals and fast-action gameplay deliver a true cinematic gaming experience. Lush ancient world settings crafted in near-photo realistic detail provide the player with an extraordinary canvas on which to set forth on an epic quest of the ultimate good versus evil.

With Titan Quest: Immortal Throne, continue the epic story and battle through the sinister underworld of Hades. Along with new foes, players will find new allies. Players will interpret the prophecies of the blind seer Tiresias, fight alongside Agamemnon and Achilles, and use the wiles of Odysseus to conquer this dark new adventure.

Summary: A good fun hack-and-slash....
Comment: As many have commented on the the pre "Gold Edition" versions of this game, this is not a Diablo 2 killer.

Although it is prettier (almost by default simply because it's much less old a game!), and has more classes etc. to play, it doesn't have the same soul. Toppling D2 is not impossible, a genre benchmarks are not all infallible. Is Half-Life the only good FPS game? Are Star Wars and Star Trek the only quality/popular sci-fi? Yes, because they are genre benchmarks, it is hard to compare sometimes, but they are there and that's that.

If Titan Quest had come a bit sooner, say within 1-4 years of D2 perhaps it would have been a closer run thing. As it is, it does not seem the most efficient of code as for the significant step up in system requirements there is not a commensurate increase in visual "wow factor".

Here's how I stack it up against Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction:-

- D2:LoD - TQ:IT
Graphics - Adequate (v.g. at the time) - Good
Sound - Good - Okay
Intro movie - Excellent - Excellent
"Outtro" - Excellent - None :(
Other movies - Good - None :(
Gameplay - Excellent & addictive. - Good. Less addictive.
Multiplayer - Excellent (some still play!)- Okay

TQ seems to fair poorly here, but do remember that D2 is much older and for all but hardcore players the multiplayer gets very difficult on the third setting ("Hell").

Summary: My third favourite (after D2 and Nox) action CRPG-lite!
