Summary: WAKE UP CALL !!!!!
Comment: I'm writing this review halfway through the 4th song...And Holy......Damn is this good....I think this album is a wake up call for all the new rock bands out there as to what Rock is and What Rock isn't.. For those of you who grew up on True Rock this album is for you.... For the posers and the commercial bands out there...This is a Rock N Roll dictionary.... I think Motley Crue are back to show they can still Rock Hard and Ride Easy...

Summary: Calm down folks, this is no more than average!
Comment: From the drooling reviews on here you would think Crue were back to their best, well they're not. This album is OK but it has loads of filler and is no more than average. I would say this had potential but is wildly overproduced. Take the track Saints of Los Angeles, anyone who has the game Rock Band has already heard a rawer and much better version without the 'metal choir' (gang mix or whatever they call it). It has been produced to death and the energy and drive leeched out of it. I suspect this is true of much of the rest of the material here. It's a shame but they have really gone OTT in the mixing booth. Just play and record it with no more than a few tweaks guys!

Summary: The Crue's back and this time they brought the Saints!!
Comment: Ignore the official reviews. This is a stunning Record. The last 3 studio records were by no means bad (crue 94 is brilliant)but they just didn't have of vibe/attitude/feel of Motley Crue..which is why this record is great. Sound, lyrics and melody - you can pigeon hole it across the best of the first 5 records. (well it is a retrospective look back at their career!). Thankfully and rightly the attitude is more Dr Feelgood (heavier guitars and drums...OOH the drums). The only average track is 'Animal in Me'. However the rest are at least 9/10.... Face down in the Dirt, SOLA, Physco & Whisky are 10/10 tracks. The last 3 crue albums are basically ignored when considering live sets..3-4 songs of SOLA should become crowd favoutites especially 'face down in the dirt' and 'SOLA'. Who knows? if the band can keep personality clashes and the business side out of the music..they may just get their second coming.

Summary: L.A.M.F.? An appropriate Album Title Could Have Been L.A.M.E.
Comment: Oh Dear. The wish was never answered, I was hoping this album would either display a return to form (Too Fast for Love, Shout at the Devil, Theatre of Pain, Girls... and elements of Doctor Feelgood). Not a chance, all this appears to be is music by numbers. There are much better bands out there playing passionate music, writing superior lyrics that will never have a chance because they don't carry the Motley Crue brand name (most of them from Sweden).
I can't give a blow by blow account on the tracks because they aren't memorable enough - never had that problem with early Crue. No wonder if you ever see them live they play mainly from their back catalogue - which is great.
The band should have changed their name when Corabi was in the fold and continued to mature in that direction - if that's what the intention is of this album(?) because all they're doing now is providing bullets for their detractors.
My advice would be to buy the aforementioned albums and the much maligned but equally superior and misunderstood '94 album.
This album marks a missed musical chance at a high profile level but the Crue won't care about that as long as the money keeps rolling in. All they now seem to champion and represent is the gutter. Sad.

Summary: Bit of a let down.
Comment: First things first. This is a good album. At times it sounds like it could've been a great album.
That said, there's waaaaay too much outside interference and it shows. Animal In Me is pretty much just a Sixx:AM track with better drumming. The production, as well, while chunky and modern, just isn't quite right. They should really have stuck with Bob Rock for this album. Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx's backing vocals are missing and the beauty-in-simplicity writing of the classic Shout At The Devil and Too Fast For Love albums seems to have gone entirely. There're no massively memorable riffs, either; not a single Too Fast For Love, Piece Of Your Action, Dr Feelgood, Slice Of Your Pie or Take Me To The Top among them. That said, the first 6 tracks are all great, as are the last 4, so for the most part the album's pretty damn sweet. It's just not quite up to the standard of the classic albums (the aforementioned first two), though it's better than Theater Of Pain.
Though what isn't, right?
Nonetheless, a strong, ballsy effort that sounds like it's being performed by a band half their age. And for that perhaps, they should be applauded.
Oh, the title track's an absolute classic already and is bound to be great on tour. Go see 'em! You seriously won't regret it. Also, I doubt you'll regret buying this album. Even though I just appear to have slated it pretty hard, it's still a damn good record with a songwriting standard that never sinks too low. I can sing the chorus to every song off it and there're albums I've heard a lot more times that I can't say that about.
