Summary: Great pressure cooker - but it's BIG
Comment: This is probably more pressure cooker than most people need, but it works wonderfully. The gauge on top is exremely useful to monitor precise temp for canning and such. The only drawback is its size. It barely fit on my stove under the microwave. Be sure and measure before you buy.

Summary: It is not your mother's pressure canner!
Comment: I love this pressure canner, it isn't the canner that my mother had. There are no worries that this will accidently explode on you, this canner is completely save with it's unique safety features. This canner hasn't been off my stove since the start of canning season. This is a very heavy gauge metal and will last for many years to come.
The manual contained instructions for the slight assembly required and several recipes. So far I have made jelly, jams, canned pate, crushed tomatoes, marina sauce, and spaghetti sauce with meat, relish, and pickles. This has done a fantastic job each time. You can stack a ton of jars in this pressure canner so you don't have to do just a few jars at a time.
This will be a canner that I know will be the last one that I will ever need. It is safe with two over pressure releases. I love this canner and look forward to many years of service along with many tasty meals.

Summary: So much better than the old!
Comment: Presto 23-Quart Pressure Cooker/CannerI was using my friend's old pressure cooker and thought that it was just the best ever (also a Presto and VERY old). Was used to seeing that and saw so many people years ago use this very kind. It was such a pleasant surprise to use the newer style...so much easier to use, more heat control and in context was lighter and the lid was soooo much easier to lock on. This is the best investment I have made in a long time. Thanks Presto for another good product!

Summary: works like a charm
Comment: I read the directions very carefully and even did a test run before canning with it. Works great and I am sure as I become more comfortable with the process it will work even better. My mother used a pressure canner all my life, but was careful not to let me near it which put a fear in me of pressure cookers. I do believe you have to respect a pressure cooker and follow the directions carefully to avoid mishaps.

Summary: IT BLEW UP !!!
Comment: Used product for the first time today 8-17-08 and when it reached 10 lbs the pressure guage blew off. It seems there was a problem in the casting of the metal. Made sure when I installed it not to tighten too much. Also read in another review this happoning to someone else. I am going to call Presto tomorrow and raise he.l. Buyer beware to be carefull when using this pressure cooker.
