Customer Rating: Summary: Have it professionaly installed and it works great. Comment: We just built a new steel building and we were getting no reception in our building (we use Verizon). We had to hand our heads outside our doors to get reception from our phone.
I ordered product and had it professionally installed ($60) and now we get full bars all over the building.
This has been a life saver and is worth double the price, just make sure to have it installed by a professional so that you know you will have it working right.
Customer Rating: Summary: Works Great in Chicago Condo Comment: I live down town Chicago in a 1,000 square foot condo. I only have 3 windows and I am on floor 3 of 21. When I moved into my new place, I realized quickly that my cell phone only worked in the living room (by the windows). My place is like a dungeon. Great for cooling / heating ... bad for cell phone chit chat.
I didn't want to order a land line so I started doing research on cell phone boosters. I came across this and took a risk. The reviews seemed great, but it was the bad reviews that scared me. Would this work in a condo (all reviewers described houses)?
I have a Verizon wireless phone, and this thing is AWESOME (been using for a week). It works great, AND COMPLETELY RECOMMEND! I went from only being able to talk in my living room to being able to talk anywhere in my condo. I am sure my neighbors love me now.
It is very very simple to set-up. And they give you a tone of coaxial cable that runs between the two antennas. The only issue is trying to figure out were to hide the stuff.
*** Please note that this will NOT create a signal for you. It takes an existing signal and spreads the love. So if you are in the boonies and have no signal, this thing will not work for you.
Most importantly, MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS COMPATIBLE!
Customer Rating: Summary: Didn't Work as Advertised Comment: I get very poor cell reception in my home and was hoping this would help solve my problem. I read the directions very carefully and made sure to install the antenna properly as well as keep the unit a certain distance away from the antenna. This unit didn't do it's job at all. I got the exact same reception inside as I did before. I also made sure to check my phone was on the 800 mhz frequency and it was so that isn't the problem. Because installation isn't easy this was a pain to return as well, but I did end up shipping it back to amazon. I don't recommend this product because it just didn't work for me.
A tip for those people looking to get phone coverage inside your house - Take a look at a product on Amazon called Ooma. This is what I ended up buying and so far it's great! A one time fee of 250 and then free US calling for the rest of your life over the internet. Sounds too go to be true, but it really does work well. That didn't solve my cell coverage problem, but it did give me a working phone inside my home so I'm happy.
Customer Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Comment: Works as advertised! Had 0-1 bars before. Now, 4-5 throughout a single level 1500 sq ft house. Antenna placement and base station placement is critical. Had found the ideal locations within one hour...
Customer Rating: Summary: Great! Comment: I live in an older apartment building on the second floor that doesn't get good service inside. I am using an iPhone with AT&T. Normally, I would not get any service inside except right near the windows and even that was spotty. If I held my phone out the window I would get 3-5 bars of service.
After installing the YX500-CEL, I now get 3-5 bars of service everywhere in my 800sq ft apartment. Unfortunately, I think AT&T uses the 1900mhz band for 3G so I might upgrade to the YX510.
